Helmut Draxler
Helmut Draxler is an art historian, art critic, and curator. As Director of the Kunstverein München, he has curated exhibitions of the work of Stephan Dillemuth, Andrea Fraser, Group Material, Martin Kippenberger, Louise Lawler, Christian Phillipe Müller, Adrian Piper, Christopher Williams, and Heimo Zobernig; film programms with Yvonne Rainer, Trinh T. Minh -ha, and Jef Cornelis; and the thematic exhibition The Utopia of Design. He is currently a professor at Merz Akademie and co-leader of the Department of Theory. His publications include Die Arena des Privaten, Die Utopie des Designs, and Öffentlicher Raum.
Stephan Geene
Stephan Geene founded the performance/video project minimal club (with Sabeth Buchmann) in the 1980s. In 1989 minimal club started the yearly magazine A.N.Y.P. in Munich, and later moved to Berlin. He has worked as a curator in Shedhalle Zurich, Kunstverein Munich, in collaborations with botschaft e.v. bürobert. Since its founding in 1996 Geene has been involved with b_books, a book shop and meeting space, which in 1998 also became a publication facility, and in 2003 encompassed film production. He organized the film festival filmsquat in Eiszeit Kino Berlin, directed different films with Judith Hopf, participated in the collective directing of le ping pong d’amour (a mix of a soap opera and a nouvelle vague-film). Currently the film project after effect has just been finished.
He works at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht with Sabeth Buchmann and Helmut Draxler on the project Film, Avantgarde and Biopolitics.
