Judith Barry is an artist and writer whose work crosses a number of disciplines: performance, installation, sculpture, architecture, photography, and new media. She has exhibited internationally at the Berlin Biennial (2003), several Venice Biennales of both Art and Architecture (1988, 2000, 2001), Bienal de São Paulo (1994), Nagoya Biennial (1993), Carnegie International (2001), Whitney Biennial (1987), Sydney Biennial (1982), and two InSites (San Diego/Tijuana) (1997, 2000), among others. In 2000, she was awarded the Kiesler Prize for Architecture and the Arts and in 2001 her piece, Voice Off received “Best Pavilion” and “Audience Award” at the 8th Cairo Biennial. Recent exhibitions include Queens International, Queens Museum (2006); Galerie Karin Sachs, Munich (2006); SHOP 1V, Whitechapel Gallery (2006); Dark Places, Santa Monica Museum of Art (2006); Wall to be Destroyed, Frac Lorraine, Metz (2005); Baroque/Neo Baroque, DA2, Salamanca (2005); Phonorama, ZKM, Karlsruhe (2004); East Village USA, New Museum, NY (2004). In Spring 2007 a traveling survey of her work will open in Domus Atrium 2, Salamanca, Spain. Barry is currently Director of the MFA Program at the Art Institute of Boston/Lesley University.
