Activating the Medium Festival (10th: 2007)

SFAI and 23five Incorporated present an evening of performances by sound artists as the third and concluding chapter of the tenth annual Activating the Medium Festival. Curated by Randy H.Y. Yau and Jim Haynes, chapter one began at The Exploratorium, and chapter two continued at Recombinant Media Labs. The Festival’s theme centers on field recording, especially when documenting the enigmatic boundary between the natural and the artificial. Featured projects will include an acoustic performance by Jeph Jerman sounding only objects found in nature, evocative sonic landscapes from Portland’s Seth Nihil, and sonic offerings from local sound artist Xopher Davidson and sonic alchemist Jim Haynes. Jeph Jerman will speak in the noon seminar at the Graduate Center. Admission is free for SFAI students, faculty, and staff. General admission is on a sliding scale of $5–$10.
